teaching

I am currently the trombone instructor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, where I have also taught music theory, music fundamentals, jazz history, and improvisation along with ensemble coaching. My previous teaching experience includes teaching low brass and music theory at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the Spring 2003 semester. During the 2000-2001 academic year I was the trombone and euphonium teaching assistant for Thomas Ashworth at the University of Minnesota.

I have offered private instruction to trombone (and other brass) students for nearly twenty years. My students have ranged in experience from beginners to advanced college and professional musicians. I have presented masterclasses on topics  including  contemporary performance practice, improvisation, and living & working abroad at universities and conservatories in the USA and Germany.

I currently offer private instruction via Skype and FaceTime for those not residing in the Baltimore/Washington, DC area. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested.
